the Pineapple

What do you think of when you picture living in the South? A cool glass of sweet tea? A hand fan for long hot nights? Sitting on the front porch with friends and family?

Living in Charleston means incorporating these things into your lifestyle. That's why our logo is the Pineapple — a traditional Southern symbol that stands for friendship and hospitality.

The Pineapple is also a symbol that expresses a sense of good cheer, warmth, and affection.  You will see the Pineapple symbol a lot around Charleston, South Carolina. I started collecting pineapples when I was in my 20s.  I wanted everyone who visited my home to feel my hospitality and to never leave without feeling friendship.

Today, I see the Pineapple not only as a symbol but as a Lifestyle. I was born and raised in South Carolina. I spent many summers in Charleston growing up. When I was 25 years old, I bought my first painting of Rainbow Row— my favorite street in downtown Charleston. I hung it in my home. I knew someday I would live in this beautiful historical place, and I could walk Rainbow Row anytime I wanted.  This print still hangs in my home today. It is a reminder of where I was at that time in my life and where I am now.

I’ve achieved my dream. I live in awe of this beautiful place every day. Downtown Charleston is rich with history. There are ancient churches around every corner. It is known as the Holy City. You can see Church steeples from any direction you look.  Lush green landscapes and vivid flowers scatter the coastline, amazing restaurants, and parks and gardens bring so much beauty.

My favorite flower is the Hydrangea.  It reminds me of the Charleston summers visiting my grandmother.  I would watch my grandmother cut Hydrangea flowers from her yard.  Wearing her straw bonnet, she'd give the clippings to me, saying “Here you go Sugarfoot.” She called them her SnowBall bushes - another precious memory that drew me to  live in Charleston.

Living in Charleston is a beautiful Lowcountry Life.  I hope you will want to live this lifestyle too. It’s my life’s passion to help our clients feel at home in this beautiful city, and to share the friendship and hospitality the South is known for.

We’d love to hear from you
